welcome

Kylie Short

Hi there and welcome to another Client Newsletter for May 2009.

As you may be aware, Deirdre and I have been working dilligently on creating process documents for each of you. This means you will have a step by step guide to the processes and procedures we use to fulfil your requirements. Should we ever part ways, you'll be able to give this document to your new VA and get them up to speed quicker. Why are we doing this? Besides being part of the service, I feel that it is very important that you have this document.

If you have any questions about the Process Documents or anything else we are doing here in Tilda Virtual Services headquarters, please send an email or call on +61 3 9018 9805.

Virtually yours,

Kylie Short

Friday 15th May saw Tilda Virtual Services celebrate it's 3rd birthday. So much has happened in that time and the business has grown beyond what I first envisioned it would be when I started. I've made mistakes, learnt new skills and have worked with some fantastic, interesting and inspiring people.

To help me provide a high quality of service to you and your business and to direct the future growth of my business, please complete this survey. There's a gift for you at the end!

Thank you!

BAS Agent Legislation and the Need for PI Insurance

"The Tax Agent Services Act has now been passed into law. This BAS Agent Update stresses the importance of Professional Indemnity insurance coverage in light of this new legislation which has changed forever the bookkeeping industry.

Background
On 12 March 2009, the Tax Agent Services Bill was passed by Federal Parliament. The legislation establishes a national Tax Practitioners Board who will oversee and regulate the supply of BAS services to the general public. As such, the legislation stands to greatly impact the bookkeeping industry. In short, it will require bookkeepers to apply to the Board for registration if they wish to continue to render BAS services to their clients. As the legislation has taken shape, it has now become clear that Professional Indemnity (PI) insurance will be a key requirement of this new bookkeeping landscape.

To date, the bookkeeping industry as a whole has been slow to adopt PI insurance. However, the advent of this legislation removes the option to ignore PI insurance for those bookkeepers looking to provide BAS services to their clients… "

What does this mean for you

Your bookkeeper is now regulated by this legislation.

What does this mean for us?

Each bookkeeper contracted by Tilda Virtual Services (including myself) will need to register as a BAS Agent.
